Weekly Challenge #2 - Single Sentence Summary
This is a fun challenge! Get ready to challenge your creativity, whit and funny-bone to write a single sentence summary of your favorite movie, tv-show or book!
Last weeks challenge was a smashing success! Thank you everyone who participated, shared and commented!
I’ve had a blast going through all the amazing photos, the accompanying stories and all the amazingly kind words from the community. I am humbled with how many participated, I did not expect to see so many people joining in, but forever grateful!
So many wonderful and beautiful submissions. Needless to say, it was tough to choose a winner.
But after a lot of consideration I have reached a conclusion based on creativity, style, contrast, composition, plus more technical stuff, and I have decided on a winner!
The Winner -
The winner is with this gorgeous photo of her and a friend. It captures the challenge in a fantastic way and the focus is spot on. Muted background with a beautiful mix of bright colors as the focus. I honestly could not ask for a much better submission.

There were so many amazing contributions it was hard to choose just one, so here are a couple of honorable mentions.
It was hard choosing just one, which is why I added a couple runner ups. In this case,
and who both manages to capture the essence of the challenge with their submissions.I would’ve loved to include and feature more, that’s how many wonderful submissions there were! But I have to keep it limited, photos take up a lot of space even in a gallery.

Weekly Challenge #2 - Single Sentence Summary
What to Expect
Each week will consist of a different challenge that I randomly draw. What the challenge then entails will be drawn in the same way to get a focused theme.
The themes and the challenges will differ from week to week, as mentioned, but will eventually circle back around. However, a theme can not be repeated for said challenge. So if you want to participate and do a mini challenge each week I suggest you subscribe so you don’t miss a challenge.

The Challenge
Theme: Single Sentence Summary (movie, book, tv-show, video game, etc)
About: Prepare for a fun and brilliant challenge with the "Single Sentence Summary Challenge!" In this fun and whimsically whitty writing exercise, your linguistic prowess will be put to the test as you distill a complex story, concept, or narrative into a single sentence that sparkles with wit, humor and clarity.
Craft a single sentence that captures the essence of a book, movie or tv-show, ensure it is both funny and creatively captivating. Feel free to be as sarcastic, whitty or whimsical as you can. I want creativity, not professionalism in this challenge.
The funnier, the better!
You have a mere handful of words to work with—challenge yourself to explain a complex story in a funny and humorous way within a very limited space.
Make use of wordplay, humor, clever phrasing and shine a spotlight on the heart of the story you summarize.
Please pay attention to the guidelines below, these must be followed for the story to be eligible.
Example (Your note should be written in the following format):
“Lord of the Rings Trilogy Summary - Single Sentence Challenge
Hairy footed hobbits and their band of misfits go on a long walk to destroy an evil jewelry designer's precious ring, all while trying to avoid a giant spider, a dong-draped dude, and a large group of ugly men with skin issues.”

Single sentence summary goes here”
Guidelines (must follow)
Subscription: No subscription needed to participate, but appreciated and useful for future challenges.
Submission Deadline: Submissions for the week's challenge must be posted by August 21, 2023.
How to Participate:
Your summary must be a single sentence - See example above for format.
Entries must adhere to the single sentence limit – entries not adhering to this limit will not be considered.
Ensure your single sentence summary explain the plot in a funny and whitty way, even within the word constraint.
Originality and creativity are highly encouraged.
Post the Sentence and Title on Notes by restacking this post (I’ll personally go through all submissions & bookmark them - For bonus points, tag friends you think will excel in this challenge).
In your Note, tagNordic Thoughts so I can see and read it. If you’re unable to tag me or don’t know how, please leave a comment on this post saying you have restacked this post with your summary and I’ll have a look.
Original Content: Only summaries written by you are eligible for the challenge. You can use AI if you want to, but I highly recommend you only use it for inspiration and not just copy/paste.
Complexity: It can be as complex as you want and you can use any writing style you want. Just make sure it’s whitty and funny and in a single sentence.
Topic: The topic doesn’t matter. It can be your favorite movie, favorite book or tv-show or anything really.
Engagement: Feel free to like and comment on fellow participants' entries to encourage a sense of community. I want this to be a fun challenge for the community to be a part of.
Winner Selection: I will personally review all the submissions and select a winning single sentence summary based on creativity, relevance to the theme, and how funny it is.
Winner Announcement: The winner of the "Single Sentence Summary" challenge will be announced in next week's challenge. The winning summary will also be featured in the newsletter.
Prize: The winner will receive a shoutout and repost of their story in next weeks challenge email, a recommendation if you have a Substack of your own, and a fun handwritten font with full commercial license, see previews of the font below this section.
Permission: By taking part in the challenge, you grant me permission to feature your submitted summary in my newsletter, giving you full credit with links and a recommendation if you have a Substack of your own.
