Weekly Challenge #4 - Photo of the Week | Everyday Details
This weeks challenge is all about finding beauty in the mundane and celebrating the extraordinary within the ordinary.
This week has been interesting, there’s been so many beautiful submissions it was once again extremely hard to pick a winner.
I’m also experimenting with the format of this post to find a formula that works, the very limited possibilities with Substack doesn’t help unfortunately, but makes perfect sense.
I want the emphasis on the winner at the same time as I want the emphasis on the new challenge. Which is a tricky format to figure out, so forgive the format for the coming weeks while I’m trying to figure it out!
The Winner -
I decided with
’s submission as it encapsulates the challenge perfectly. We have the old and traditional architecture mixed with the new in this very beautiful shot from Bangkok Thailand. The colors, the composition, everything is fantastic in this shot. Amazing work Christian!
Honorable Mentions
There were so many amazing contributions it was hard to choose just one, so here are a couple of honorable mentions.

It was hard choosing just one, which is why I added a couple runner ups who both manages to capture the essence of the challenge with their submissions.
This time we have
and with their beautiful submissions. Claire’s submission perfect captures the duality between fairy tale and reality and Linn’s submission perfectly captures the duality of a light in the dark.As always, I would’ve loved to include and feature more, that’s how many wonderful submissions there were! But I have to keep it limited, photos take up a lot of space even in a gallery.
Again, thank you everyone who’s participated in this challenge! It’s been so much fun seeing everyones submissions! I hope everyone who participated in this challenge joins in today’s new challenge as well.
I hope to see all of you and many more in future challenges!
Weekly Challenge #3 - Capturing Duality
What to Expect
Each week will consist of a different photo challenge that I randomly draw.
The themes and the challenges will differ from week to week, as mentioned, but will eventually circle back around. However, a theme can not be repeated for said challenge. So if you want to participate and do a mini photo challenge each week I suggest you subscribe so you don’t miss a challenge.
Let’s have some fun!
Please pay attention to the guidelines below, these must be followed for the photo to be eligible.
The Challenge
Theme: Everyday Details
About: This week's challenge invites you to pay attention to the small, often overlooked details that make up your daily surroundings. Look for patterns, textures, and colors that usually go unnoticed.
It's all about finding beauty in the mundane and celebrating the extraordinary within the ordinary. From the grain of a wooden table to the intricate design of a doorknob, let's bring the little things to the forefront.
It’s all about details so be as creative as you possibly can!
The object can be anything, but the focus must be on Everyday Details.
This challenge is designed to encourage not only technical skill but also artistic expression in presenting the details in everyday objects.
Submissions will be judged based on creativity, composition, detail and how well you capture the smaller details we more often than not overlook in our day-to-day life.
Whether it's as simple as an old cobweb in a corner or a crack in a coffee cup, an old ornament, or a beautiful texture, the "Everyday Details" photo challenge is a fun challenge that invites your creative spirit!
If you want some inspiration or get an idea of what the theme means, see the example photos below. Note, these are just examples that I’ve taken from Unsplash and does not necessarily reflect the challenge perfectly. They are merely to give you an idea.

Ah Patrik I'm totally honoured - I love my photo sooo much - it was a really special week for us for so many reasons and all of those are in me and then somehow translate through the photo. I love that the fairy door maker chose a wonky tree! Thanks for making such a beautiful community and helping us share our creativity here!! 💜
Thank you Patrick for picking my photo. It deserved coming out of the drawer. I love the winning photo and some of the other contributions I spotted in Notes.
This is such a fun way to nurture that creativity
