Winner of Photo Challenge Week 5 - Lost & Found
This week surprised me, I figured the theme would be too obscure to get a lot of submissions, but the community surprised me yet again!
Before we begin, I apologize for getting this post out later than normal, but I had some going-ons this morning I had to take care of first. I may or may not also oversleep, which set me back an hour.
This community never cease to amaze me and I couldn’t be happier about it, especially with a theme as obscure as “Lost & Found”.
Or maybe it’s just me who believes the theme is obscure, no matter what the reason, I love how much the community blows me away every challenge!
Thank you everyone who participated, you’re all amazing and I’m very happy to have each and every one of you in this community.
I love the diversity in submissions this week, so many different ways to interpret the theme. Some took it literally, some took my tips to heart and others took it in a whole other direction, I love every single submission!
*IMPORTANT NOTE: This post is obviously too long for emails according to Substack, so if you want to see the post in its entirety I suggest you read it on either the Substack App or website. I highly recommend using your desktop to view it, all these submissions deserve it!
Next challenge is March 13.
The Winner -
Darin came in with this, quite literal, horror house of a submission. I say horror house as it is a slaughter house, but I love the apocalyptic feel you get from this.
I don’t know if you have ever played Fallout, but I can easily see how this could be a location in the game, or even for the upcoming Tv-show by Amazon. Either way, it brings out a lot of nostalgia in me due to how much it reminds me of Fallout and I’m loving it!
Darin hit it way out of the park this week! Absolutely beautiful work!
If you want more absolutely stunning photos, make sure to check out Darin’s website, his portfolio is incredible and I’ll be spending far too long looking at his work as soon as I’ve finished this post.
Darin, you’re a very talented photographer and I am so grateful to have had you participate!
Make sure to check out Darin’s Substack, aptly named, Darin’s Substack. You won’t regret it if you’re a fan of gorgeous photos and if you want to see more of Darin’s incredible work.
Honorable Mentions
As if choosing a winner wasn’t hard enough this week, I also had to pick out some equally worthy runner-ups. As I stated, there were so many wonderful and deserving entries that I’d love to feature, but if I want to keep this post readable I’m forced to limit myself.
These honorable mentions are all winners, along with every single photo this week, but these ones had something special about them that I’m positive you’ll love as well.
The runner-ups for this challenge are;
, , , and.I remember how I collect called my parents to come get me after a full day of being outside and venturing way too far from home and how I prank called neighbours and random numbers with friends.
Alexander, thank you for making me relive my childhood a little bit with this photo! Absolutely stunning photo!
Alexander is an award winning Ukrainian-Swedish author who has written 20+ books. Which blows my mind. Alexander is clearly a very talented individual and I highly recommend you check out his books.
Do not forget to subscribe to Alexander and his Substack - Lighthouse, while you’re at it. I guarantee you’ll find something you will absolutely love.
I love how the dirt and rust adds so much layers to it, making it look more decayed than it actually is. I love it, truly love it!
Allison is a woman who is learning to trust the creative surges that have resurrected inside of her, which is something I’m all here for. She’s a real estate attorney and as she say herself; “Law hardly ever leaves room for creativity.” So I love to see her embrace it here on Substack.
Do not forget to subscribe to Allison’s Substack - Dare to be Dry, while you’re at it. I guarantee you’ll find something you will absolutely love to read or possibly even relate to.
I’m a sucker for beautiful architecture and this old barn triggers all the things for me. I love how you can see the craftsmanship it took to create the gorgeous symmetry and I love seeing the old exposed lumber in combination with the new to preserve it.
Absolutely beautiful work, Logan!
According to Logan; her opinions may be tainted by snark, sarcasm and/or cursing. She also takes inspiration from The Pacific Northwest’s many amazing things, rain forests, glaciers, islands, and much more, which I honestly want to visit at least once and see everything I can.
If you know me irl, I’m a very sarcastic person and I may or may not curse far too much, so I fully and completely approve of Logan’s snark and sarcasm.
Toss Logan a follow on Instagram, you won’t regret it if you want more beautiful photos from her.
Do not forget to subscribe to Logan and her Substack - Beyond the Emerald City, while you’re at it.
The text “Off with your Head”, along with the padlock and bars just adds so much more depth to this already fantastic photo, almost makes it look as if they’re keeping something inside.
If you’re on Instagram you should toss Miranda a follow, her photos are absolutely beautiful and she most certainly deserve your follow!
Make sure to check out Miranda’s Substack, Root Stories, you won’t regret it if you’re into storytelling, beautiful visuals and the occasional musing.
China has always intrigued me, especially its history, so seeing a pawn shop in an area that Sarah describes as a street photographs dream, has me even more intrigued.
Beautiful work, Sarah!
Sarah is a writer, educator, and psychologist based in Asia.
She writes a lot about psychology/psychological theory that look closer at health and fitness, mental health, work, and relationships. But also about books, writing, and photography.
In other words, you’re bound to find something that interest you.
So make sure to subscribe to Sarah and her Substack, The Best of Intentions. I believe you’ll find quite a lot of value in her work.
As I said in my rebranding post, I’ll be featuring up to five runner-ups plus a winner from now on. But, as there’s so may absolutely fantastic photos, I want to give a quick shout-out to as many as I possibly can.
However, I’ve decided to restructure these posts a bit to keep them as readable as possible.
Each week, I'll select my absolute favorite submissions for feature, accompanied by a well-deserved shout-out. For everyone else, a link to their submission will be provided. This way, I can showcase the best while ensuring all contributors receive the recognition they deserve.
I’ll showcase my Top 12 for this challenge! These 12 were by no means easy to pick, but they absolutely deserve the recognition!
I hope to see all of you and many more in future challenges!
Photos show up in this order:
Again this is my top 12, but as Substack only allow up to 9 in a single gallery, I decided to split them into two galleries of six photos for easier browsing.

Special Shout-Out
Because I am a scatterbrain, I somehow completely missed this absolutely beautiful submission from
. For that, she deserves a special shout-out, so make sure to give her some love! Here are all the other submissions I received this week, in no particular order, so make sure to check them out, leave a like and a comment, and who knows, maybe you’ll find someone to follow or subscribe to while you’re at it!
I know there’s a lot to go through, but every single person who submitted and entered deserves at least a like and comment on their submission, and if you like their content, give them a subscription or a follow!
PS: If I have somehow missed someone, I do apologize, but going through all these wonderful submissions took hours so if I did somehow miss your submission (though I believe I got everyone). Please let me know so I can rectify that ASAP!
Thank you everyone who’s subscribed, followed, participated or just engaged in any way, you’re all awesome!

Patrik -I want to applaud you for the work that goes into these challenges. Thank you for taking such care and attention to all who submit. Not an easy task to select the top ones. They are all gorgeous shots!
Congrats to Darin. I will be following his work now for sure. Such remarkable photos!
This was so fun, Patrik. Thanks for stirring up some creative excitement for me. I was so touched to see you choose my pic as a runner up. I guess it does pay off to take it slow on runs! Otherwise, you miss so much. 🙃
Thank you, Patrik, for the kind words. If I was clean-shaven, you'd be able to see me blushing. Considering some of the outstanding photography featured in this weeks challenge, I am honored to be included.
