Winner of Photo Challenge Week 6 - Minimalism
This challenge proved to be the most popular challenge to date, which is amazing to see! Yet again the submissions are nothing short of amazing and by far one of the hardest weeks to pick a winner!
Picking a winner this week was by no means easy, not even close to be easy, but I wouldn’t change it even if I could. It’s been so much fun seeing all your amazing and beautiful photos trickling in each day.
A lot of familiar faces, a lot of new ones and a lot of new subscribers with even more submissions. It’s been an incredible week!
Thank you everyone who participated, you’re all amazing and I’m very happy to have each and every one of you in this community.
I love the diversity in submissions this week, so many different ways to interpret the theme. Some took it literally, some took my tips to heart and others took it in a whole other direction, I love every single submission!
*IMPORTANT NOTE: This post is obviously too long for emails according to Substack, so if you want to see the post in its entirety I suggest you read it on either the Substack App or website. I highly recommend using your desktop to view it, all these submissions deserve it!
Next challenge is March 27.
The Winner -
Lynn nailed this minimalism challenge completely with her submission. There’s a few more photos she submitted and picking one was not easy! I highly recommend you have a look at the note to see all the others.
Lynn lives on the Black Isle, to the north of Inverness in the Highlands of Scotland, which is a place I have on my “want to travel to” list already!
I’ve had a read on her blog this morning and I am blown away, Lynn’s work is absolutely gorgeous in every way. Fantastic stories behind her photos, I especially love her trip to Zimbabwe, such incredible photos, stories and interesting history and facts about the locations she visited.
I highly recommend you read it!
Make sure to check out Lynn’s Substack, My Journey With a Camera. You won’t regret it if you’re a fan of stunning photos, stories or if you want to see more of Lynn’s fantastic work.
Honorable Mentions
Choosing the winner and runner-ups for this challenge was easily one of the hardest choices I’ve had to make for these challenges. There are so many incredible and worthy winners this week!
These honorable mentions are all winners, along with every single photo this week, but these ones had something special about them that I’m positive you’ll love as well.
The runner-ups for this challenge are;
, , , and .Henry is a Christian Birder EMT Musician Biblical Apologist, in his own words, but I’d definitely add photographer there because his photos are absolutely beautiful.
Henry does not seem to have a Substack, at least not one that I’ve found, but give him a follow if nothing else! The above Note is his only note to date, but hopefully we’ll see a lot more from him moving forward.
Either way, it is a beautiful photo!
Lee is a clearly a talented photographer, but as we all do, passions like crypto and true crime seem to be high on Lee’s list of interests. At least from what I’ve been able to tell. Correct me if I’m wrong, please!
So if you’re into crypto, true crime and interesting tidbits from the GenZ generation, definitely have a look at Lee’s Substack.
Do not forget to subscribe to Lee’s Substack - Station 101, while you’re at it. Especially if you’re into true crime and Crypto.
Absolutely beautiful work, Maia!
According to Maia; she has a degree in literature and have worked with ISIS victims in Iraq, which is amazing! I know a lot of people from Iraq and they are all amazing people, always so welcoming and warm.
Currently though, Maia’s working on uncovering fraud in US spending in Afghanistan. Which, in my opinion, must be a lot of work considering how many years the US have been there and especially considering what they’ve done there.
She’s also very into poetry and have a book you can purchase. So make sure to check out her poetry collection book, And My Blood Sang.
Do not forget to subscribe to Maia and her Substack - Maia writes, while you’re at it. You’ll love her publication if you’re into poetry and magical realism.
Not only is she a frequent participator, but she’s even the winner of the Reflection Challenge which was posted in Februrary.
If you’re on Instagram you should toss Miranda a follow, her photos are absolutely beautiful and she most certainly deserve your follow!
Make sure to check out Miranda’s Substack, Root Stories, you won’t regret it if you’re into storytelling, beautiful visuals and the occasional musing.
I can easily envision this photo as a finishing shot from a movie. It’s as close to perfection as you can get, I genuinely love everything about this photo.
Steven is a Photographer, filmmaker and writer. His work is absolutely stunning and I can’t wait to discover much more about him after I’ve finished this post.
If you want to see more stunning photos, make sure to check out Steven’s website and his Substack.
If you love photography and visually stunning posts, Steven’s Substack is a must-subscribe. You honestly won’t regret subscribing if you want image posts delivered to your inbox.
As I said in my rebranding post, I’ll be featuring up to five runner-ups plus a winner from now on. But, as there’s so may absolutely fantastic photos, I want to give a quick shout-out to as many as I possibly can.
However, I’ve decided to restructure these posts a bit to keep them as readable as possible.
Each week, I'll select my absolute favorite submissions for feature, accompanied by a well-deserved shout-out. For everyone else, a link to their submission will be provided. This way, I can showcase the best while ensuring all contributors receive the recognition they deserve.
I’ll showcase my Top 12 for this challenge! These 12 were by no means easy to pick, but they absolutely deserve the recognition!
I hope to see all of you and many more in future challenges!
Photos show up in this order:
Again this is my top 12, but as Substack only allow up to 9 in a single gallery, I decided to split them into two galleries of six photos for easier browsing.
Photos show up in this order:
Here are all the other submissions I received this week, in no particular order, so make sure to check them out, leave a like and a comment, and who knows, maybe you’ll find someone to follow or subscribe to while you’re at it!
I know there’s a lot to go through, but every single person who submitted and entered deserves at least a like and comment on their submission, and if you like their content, give them a subscription or a follow!
PS: If I have somehow missed someone, I do apologize, but going through all these wonderful submissions took hours so if I did somehow miss your submission (though I believe I got everyone). Please let me know so I can rectify that ASAP!
Thank you everyone who’s subscribed, followed, participated or just engaged in any way, you’re all awesome!

Wow, thank you so much, Patrik. I really didn't envy your task of choosing a winner - there was such an amazing collection of images entered!
Oh my goodness...what a collection of outstanding photos. The winners are simply marvelous, and I'm especially pleased with the top choice from Lynn - that is a stunning shot (and happily, I shall be visiting Inverness in a couple of weeks)...
