Winner of Photo Challenge Week 7 - In the Moment
From horse kisses to benches, waves crashing, contemplation and children laughing, this week has been filled with so many beautiful photos that were captured in the moment.
Choosing and deciding on a winner for this challenge has been tough, very tough. It’s never easy as you know, but there’s something extra challenging having to choose from beautiful family moments, children laughing to crashing waves and adorable animals.
There’s been a lot of beautiful, adorable and otherwise amazing photos submitted this week that’s brought a massive smile to my face.
The diversity in submissions this week has been incredible, as always, but there’s something extra special when you see photos that just brings a smile to your smile.
I’ve honest been grinning like an idiot all week looking at all your gorgeous submissions and I’ve been loving every moment of it.
*IMPORTANT NOTE: This post is obviously too long for emails according to Substack, so if you want to see the post in its entirety I suggest you read it on either the Substack App or website. I highly recommend using your desktop to view it, all these submissions deserve it!
Next challenge is April 10.
The Winner -
There’s something majestic about massive waves crashing into land that just makes me look at it in awe, and Hayley have definitely nailed this in the moment challenge with just such a moment.
Hayley submitted three photos, two of them massive waves crashing and having to pick between them were a coin toss. Literally. I honestly flipped a coin as both of these crashing wave photos were worthy winners.
Ultimately it landed on heads, which is the photo above, but I highly recommend you check out the other two stunning photos in her note below.
Make sure to check out Hayley’s Substack, Outdoor Simplicity. You won’t regret it if you’re a fan of beautiful photos, slow-living and poems.
Honorable Mentions
Choosing the winner and runner-ups for this challenge was easily one of the hardest choices I’ve had to make for these challenges. There are so many incredible and worthy winners this week!
These honorable mentions are all winners, along with every single photo this week, but these ones had something special about them that I’m positive you’ll love as well.
The runner-ups for this challenge are;
, , , & .Kristi is a former award winning destination blogger and travel writer, that also specializes in taking care of your backend for Substack.
Which I believe is a fantastic idea as it allows those who doesn’t have time or knowledge to write an About page or customizing the look and feel of their Substack, to get it done while focusing on what they do best, writing their newsletters.
If you want to know what else Kristi can do for you, check out her website Unstack Substack below.

It is a stunning photo!

Sydney has been a frequent participator of these challenges for a while now and it’s always such a joy seeing her wonderful photos show up for these challenges. Especially this week with this wonderful moment she submitted.
She’s also published her own photo books, running a small homestead store and selling prints of her beautiful photographs. Clearly, Sydney is a busy woman!
As I’m unable to choose just one thing to link, make sure to check out her work though the links below. You’ll most likely find all of it interesting, I know I did.

This photo is actually part of a series of photos from the same location, which Chris has had exhibited in a Photo Gallery in London. Which is impressive as is, but even more so as it’s shot on a phone, which goes to show that you don’t need fancy equipment to get your work featured in galleries.
Chris is a mobile photographer, meaning he photographs with his phone. And considering the beautiful photos he snaps, it’s clear he’s very good at it.
If you want to see more stunning photos, make sure to check out Chris’s Instagram below where you’ll find gorgeous photos he’s snapped using his phone.
If you want posts ranging from the latest in technologically geeky trends to insights on healthy living, captivating travel tales, reflections on parenting, and an array of bits and pieces that personally intrigue Chris, check out his Substack and toss him a subscription.
As I said in my rebranding post, I’ll be featuring up to five runner-ups plus a winner from now on. But, as there’s so may absolutely fantastic photos, I want to give a quick shout-out to as many as I possibly can.
However, I’ve decided to restructure these posts a bit to keep them as readable as possible.
Each week, I'll select my absolute favorite submissions for feature, accompanied by a well-deserved shout-out. For everyone else, a link to their submission will be provided. This way, I can showcase the best while ensuring all contributors receive the recognition they deserve.
I’ll showcase my Top 12 for this challenge! These 12 were by no means easy to pick, but they absolutely deserve the recognition!
I hope to see all of you and many more in future challenges!
Photos show up in this order:
Again this is my top 12, but as Substack only allow up to 9 in a single gallery, I decided to split them into two galleries of six photos for easier browsing.
Photos show up in this order:
Here are all the other submissions I received this week, in no particular order, so make sure to check them out, leave a like and a comment, and who knows, maybe you’ll find someone to follow or subscribe to while you’re at it!
I know there’s a lot to go through, but every single person who submitted and entered deserves at least a like and comment on their submission, and if you like their content, give them a subscription or a follow!
PS: If I have somehow missed someone, I do apologize, but going through all these wonderful submissions took hours so if I did somehow miss your submission (though I believe I got everyone). Please let me know so I can rectify that ASAP!
Thank you everyone who’s subscribed, followed, participated or just engaged in any way, you’re all awesome!
