Winner of Photo Challenge - Week 9 - Spring
This challenge was insane! So many gorgeous submissions, by far one of the hardest challenges to judge, but I'm loving it! See you in June for the next part of these Photo Challenges!
I knew this challenge would see a lot of submissions, never expected just how many submissions it got though, but I couldn’t be happier with each and every submission that came in!
Choosing a winner this time was by no means an easy feat, but a very fun one! Picking and choosing between so many stunning submissions is never an easy thing, but there’s not much I’d rather do!
Please keep in mind that this challenge marked the end for these challenges until early June sometime!
*IMPORTANT NOTE: This post is obviously too long for emails according to Substack, so if you want to see the post in its entirety I suggest you read it on either the Substack App or website. I highly recommend using your desktop to view it, all these submissions deserve it!
Next challenge is - To be Announced.
*IMPORTANT NOTE: This challenge marked the end until early June 2024, I’m taking May off for some personal matters that will hopefully be cleared up by the start of June!
The Winner -
Cameron’s photo is the perfect representation of spring. The smiley stickers completes an otherwise incredible photo and adds an extra layer of contrast to it that completes the composition perfectly.
I don’t know if it’s the stickers or the photo itself, but every time I look at this photo it just makes me smile.
Cameron is not only an obviously talented photographer, he’s also a volunteer firefighter who works in marketing & comms by day. Not to mention that he’s got two kids and a partner to spend time with too. He’s obviously a very busy guy!
Make sure to check out Cameron’s Substack, otherdaddy. You won’t regret it if you’re a fan of more beautiful photos, lyrical quotes and other fun musings.
Honorable Mentions
Choosing the winner and runner-ups for this challenge was easily one of the hardest choices I’ve had to make for these challenges. There are so many incredible and worthy winners this week!
These honorable mentions are all winners, along with every single photo this week, but these ones had something special about them that I’m positive you’ll love as well.
The runner-ups for this challenge are;
, , , and .The photo I chose from her represents spring in Japan more than the massive fields of cherry blossom trees they have. I’m not sure at which time during the day this photo is taken, but it instantly brought me back to early spring mornings in Japan with the morning dew and the subtle rain that were ever so present while I was there.
Not to mention the fact that it is a stunning photo. I love everything about it, the droplets on the branches, the budding flowers, the falling rain, the focus, the lighting. Stunning work Kamsin!
If you’re on Instagram you should toss Kamsin a follow, her photos are lovely and she definitely deserve a follow!
Don’t forget to subscribe to Kamsin and her newsletter, creative connections, while you’re at it. All her posts are paid, however, there is a 7-day free trial available which I highly recommend you check out.
However, the clouds during spring are either not there at all or it covers the entire sky and more often than not, it looks chaotic.
Alex managed to convey all this in his photo which is why I love it as much as I do.
Do not forget to subscribe to Alex’s Substack - The Craftsman Mindset, while you’re at it. Highly recommended if you want to level up in life using the perspectives of a software engineer. Which I honestly approve of, I love software engineers because they have a tendency to be tenacious and finding ways you’ve never thought of before so I guarantee you’ll find something of value in Alex’s perspective.
A wide open field, animals grazing and the peace that comes with it.
Darin is the winner of the Lost & Found challenge some weeks back and he continues to impress with his stunning photographs as evident with this weeks submission.
If you want more absolutely stunning photos, make sure to check out Darin’s website, his portfolio is incredible and I’ve spent far too much time browsing his galleries.
Make sure to check out Darin’s Substack, aptly named, Darin’s Substack. You won’t regret it if you’re a fan of gorgeous photos and if you want to see more of Darin’s incredible work.
The movement in the hair along with the softball glove adds everything to this photo and just completes it perfectly.
Donn is a published artist and fine art and portrait photographer. If you want more stunning photos from Donn, I highly recommend you check out his website, I’ve already spent far too much time browsing it myself.

There’s something calming about this photo that I just love.

As always, I feature up to five runner-ups plus a winner. But, as there’s so many absolutely fantastic photos, I want to give a quick shout-out to as many as I possibly can.
Each week, I select my absolute favorite submissions for feature, accompanied by a well-deserved shout-out. For everyone else, a link to their submission will be provided. This way, I can showcase the best while ensuring all contributors receive the recognition they deserve.
I’ll showcase my Top 12 for this challenge! These 12 were by no means easy to pick, but they absolutely deserve the recognition!
I hope to see all of you and many more in future challenges!
Photos show up in this order:
Again this is my top 12, but as Substack only allow up to 9 in a single gallery, I split them into two galleries of six photos for easier browsing.
Photos show up in this order:
Here are all the other submissions I received this week, in no particular order, so make sure to check them out, leave a like and a comment, and who knows, maybe you’ll find someone to follow or subscribe to while you’re at it!
I know there’s a lot to go through, but every single person who submitted and entered deserves at least a like and comment on their submission, and if you like their content, give them a subscription or a follow!
PS: If I have somehow missed someone, I do apologize, but going through all these wonderful submissions took hours so if I did somehow miss your submission (though I believe I got everyone). Please let me know so I can rectify that ASAP!
Thank you everyone who’s subscribed, followed, participated or just engaged in any way, you’re all awesome!
